Tip for this race
All today's tips ›Stag Night No. 1, stall 10
Sam Coen · W. McCreery
✓ Top rated ✓ Course & distance winner ✓ Won last time out
Stag Night heads our ratings on 100 and gets the nod in this 13-runner sprint on soft ground at the Curragh, narrowly ahead of The Highway Rat on 99. That one-pound margin is slim, so The Highway Rat is the chief danger, while Gazelle d'Or on 94 is the next best and Staysound Susie on 91 also has to be respected. Magical Vision is also on 91, and beyond that group the field drops away sharply, with the rest rated 81 or lower, which leaves Stag Night with only a handful of serious opponents. He looks the most likely winner, and Stag Night is our selection.

Stag Night arrives in top form after winning last time out, 22 days ago, and he has also won five starts back, so two victories in his last six outings underline his credentials. He has run over today's trip and going before, and our rating of 100 makes him the one to beat, though 146 lb is a hefty burden.

Staysound Susie has run over today's trip and going, returns after 17 days, and her 91 rating ranks her fourth of 13 from stall seven, a fair platform off 140 lb. The risk is a winless run in her last six, with no finish better than fourth.

The Highway Rat arrives fresh enough after 17 days, has run over today's trip and going, and was third two starts back, while our rating of 99 ranks him second of 13. The risk is a winless run in his last six, with 139 lb from stall 11 to carry.

Gazelle d'Or arrives fresh from a third last time out just 11 days ago, and she has run over today's trip and going before, while our rating of 94 ranks her third of 13 and well clear of her official 83. The risk is that she is yet to win in her last six starts, and 133 lb is a big weight to carry.

She's Too Kool has been slipping since winning four starts back, finishing a fourth three starts back, then a fifth, then a sixth last time out, though she's fresh from just 11 days off and has run over today's trip and going. Carrying 128 lb from draw 4, she looks a midfield type, with our rating of 80 ranking her eighth of 13.

Smoke Them Out arrives in decent heart, second last time out, third two starts back and a winner three starts back, and he has run over today's trip and going. Our figures still rank him only tenth of thirteen, and carrying 127 lb from stall five, he looks hard to fancy.

Magical Vision is winless in her last four, though back-to-back fourths two and three starts back show she's competitive, and she has run over today's trip and going. A 211-day absence and an unplaced latest effort hold her back, though our rating of 91 ranks her fifth of 13.

Buddy Batt was second last time out, but he is winless in his last six and has finished fifth or worse in four of the other five, so he is hard to fancy. He has run over today's trip and going and is back after 17 days, though our rating of 77 ranks him only 11th of 13.

Gerrit's Gem comes here fresh from a second last time out, and a second two starts back, over a trip and going he has run on before, though he's yet to win in his last six starts. Our rating of 81 sits above his official 70, but a sixth-place ranking of 13 suggests a ceiling.

Beaten in his last three runs after a seventh last time out, with fifths two and three starts back, Bay Of Supremacy has at least been consistent, and he's back quickly after 11 days, having run over today's trip and going. A win five starts back is his high point, and our rating of 80 is well above his official mark of 69, but the recent finishes suggest he's short of a winning gear.

Greek Flower is winless in her last six, finishing eighth last time out and never better than a fifth four starts back, so she is hard to fancy. She has run over today's trip and going and is only 14 days since her last run, but 119 lb from stall 8 offers little encouragement.

Alnofoor was sixth last time out and has finished fourth, unplaced and eighth since his win six starts back, so the form is cooling, and he runs again just four days later. He has run over today's trip and going, and a mark of 53 is modest, but our figures rank him 13th of 13.
