Tip for this race
All today's tips ›Light of Dawn No. 1, stall 4
James Doyle · K. R. Burke
✓ Top rated ✓ Distance winner ✓ Won last time out
Light of Dawn holds a narrow edge on ratings over Ruby Moon and lines up in a competitive nine-runner Class 1 at Newmarket over seven furlongs on good ground, where her form entitles her to plenty of respect. Ruby Moon is the obvious threat and will need to be watched throughout, while Speed of Sound and Sugar Yes Please add further depth to the dangers in what is a testing heat. On balance, Light of Dawn's standing at the head of the field makes her the one to be with, and she is selected to justify that position.

Miss Miniver won last time out, with a runner-up finish two starts back, and has run over today's trip, but ranked eighth of nine on our figures she faces a stiff task against stronger rivals here.

Silvestre De Sousa
Marco Botti 1/14
Won last time out and has run over today's trip, but a burden of 128 lb and a share of fifth of nine on our rating suggest she faces a stiff test despite arriving in excellent nick just 20 days after that success.

Ranked bottom of the field on our figures and rated below the official mark, Redline is hard to fancy despite back-to-back wins two and three starts back, as an eighth last time out and a modest speed rating of 75 leave her with plenty to find here.

Ruby Moon arrives here in fine form, a close second last time out and a winner four starts back, and she has run over today's trip before — the chief concern is that ninth two starts back hints at vulnerability on a bad day.

Sixth last time out but a winner two starts back, Sea Venture arrives after a 99-day absence which is the key question mark; she has run over today's trip and carries 128 lb from stall one, leaving her profile a touch mixed heading in.

Speed of Sound arrives in fine nick, winning last time out and boasting two wins in her last five starts, and she has run over today's trip before; the main risk is whether 128 lb proves too stiff a burden.

Spirited Gesture has won her last two starts and has run over today's trip, but our figures rank her seventh of nine and her speed rating of 67 leaves plenty to find on these terms, making her hard to fancy despite that encouraging recent sequence.

Back-to-back wins give Sugar Yes Please a serious claims here, and she has run over today's trip before; the main concern is that 48 days off the track leaves a fitness question to answer.
