Tip for this race
All today's tips ›The Bear Trap heads our ratings on 76, and he's narrowly ahead of Goldrush Kid on 75, so this looks a tight contest in a 15-runner field over a testing eight furlongs on soft ground. Goldrush Kid is the obvious danger, being only a pound behind, while Buttermere Ridge and Alex Belardo, both on 68, are the next best and could make the frame if the front two falter. The Bear Trap has a slender but genuine edge on our figures and gets the vote, even if confidence is low in such an open race. Our selection is The Bear Trap.

Goldrush Kid won two starts back and returns just 12 days after an unplaced run, having run over today's trip and on this going before; our rating of 75 ranks him second of 15, and his official mark of 59 looks workable. The main risk is a patchy record, with a pulled up and an eighth in the other recent runs.

Alex Belardo has had a win and a second in his last six starts, and he's run over today's trip and going before; our rating of 68 ranks him fourth of 15, 10 lb clear of his official mark of 58. The main risk is that he has finished seventh and sixth in his last two runs, while a stable cold spell (1/32 over 14 days) adds to the worry.

Ella's Gold has twice hit the frame in her last six, a second six starts back and a third five starts back, and she has run over today's trip and going, but she was eighth last time out and is yet to win in that spell. Our rating of 66 puts her fifth of 15, though 137 lb from draw 9 is no easy task.

He has run over today's trip and going and returns after 23 days, but carrying 135 lb from stall 15 off a mark of 56 leaves him with plenty to prove, though our 59 rating ranks him eighth of 15.
