Tip for this race
All today's tips ›Kourosh heads our ratings on 108, five pounds clear of Lightning Flash on 103, and that edge is enough to make him the one to beat in this seven-runner Class 5 over two miles on good to soft ground at Market Rasen. Lightning Flash is the chief danger, while Justus on 98 and Character Testing on 94 are both within range if Kourosh fails to settle into the contest. The bottom two on the list, Steel Fixer and Battle Stride, look well short of the necessary level. Confidence is low, but Kourosh has the strongest figures on the card, so he is our selection.

Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies 6/23
Consistent sort who has finished third, third, then a fourth in his last three outings, and he's back after 27 days with experience of today's trip and going. Carrying 168 lb is the main risk, though he remains yet to win in recent starts.

Kourosh bounced back from a pulled up with a second and a third before a fourth last time out, so he has been consistent in recent starts, and he has run over today's trip and going before. Our top-rated runner, he is yet to win in that spell and has been off 585 days, but he still looks the one to beat.

Consistent sort without a win in his last six, he has finished fourth last time out, fourth two starts back and second three starts back, and returns just 18 days later having run over today's trip and going before. The risk is the 157 lb burden, a hefty weight to carry.

Klapton Boy has finished sixth in his last two outings, a fifth three starts back before that, and returns after 170 days off, so fitness is a question. He has run over today's trip and our rating of 89 sits above his official 85, but 150 lb is a hefty burden.

Steel Fixer is winless in his last three, with a fifth last time out, a fourth two starts back and a pulled up three starts back, and he carries 142 lb off an official mark of 91. He has run over today's trip and is fresh enough after 29 days, but our figures rank him sixth of seven.

Battle Stride is hard to fancy, winless in his last five with a sixth last time out, an eighth before that, then a pulled up and a faller in the run of form. He has run over today's trip and is fresh enough after 18 days, but our rating ranks him last of seven.
