Tip for this race
All today's tips ›Shengai Enki looks the one to beat at Hereford, topping our figures on 105 and holding a 5 lb edge over D'Jo Dela Barriere, which should count over this marathon 26f trip on good to firm ground. The dangers are packed closely behind, with D'Jo Dela Barriere on 100, Alan Bresil on 99 and Malinas Glory on 98 all within a few pounds of each other, so this is no penalty-kick. Still, the gap to the rest of the field, with Sandscape a further way back on 91, leaves Shengai Enki best placed to deliver. Shengai Enki is our selection.

D'Jo Dela Barriere has run over today's trip and on this going, and his last-five form includes a win five starts back, though he's finished fifth, sixth, fifth and fifth since. Our rating of 100 ranks him second of eight, but 210 days off and a yard 0/27 are the big worries.

Our top-rated runner, Shengai Enki, is yet to win in his last five starts and was eighth last time, but he returns just 15 days later, and his official mark of 95 looks well within reach of our 105 figure. The 164 lb burden is the one reservation.

Won twice in his last five starts, a first three and four starts back, with a second five starts back, so he arrives with a solid profile despite a fifth last time out. Our rating of 98 backs him as a threat, but 163 lb after 34 days off is the main risk.

Alan Bresil is quick back after nine days and has run over today's trip and going, with a second four starts back showing his ceiling; our rating of 99 ranks him third of eight, so he's a leading danger. The risk is a winless run in his last five and 162 lb on his back.

Sandscape has been consistent without winning, finishing fifth last time out, a fourth two starts back and a third five starts back, and he has run over today's trip. A 191-day absence and 159 lb are the concerns, though our rating of 91 ranks him fifth of eight.

Poet's Muse is hard to fancy after falling last time out and being pulled up two starts back, leaving her winless in her last five, though a second four starts back shows some ability. Carrying 154 lb off 85, and rated 82 by us (seventh of eight), she looks up against it.

Black Occ was pulled up last time out, though he was second two starts back and third three starts back, and he returns after just 14 days. He has run over today's trip but remains winless in his last five, and 153 lb leaves little margin.

Bits Ballou won last time out and has been in the first three in her last three runs, but she's still hard to fancy: she carries 150 lb off an official rating of 81, and our figures rank her last of eight. She has run over today's trip and the yard is in form.
