Tip for this race
All today's tips ›Bacio No. 10, stall 5
Juan J Hernandez · Wesley A Ward
✓ Top rated ✓ Distance winner ✓ Won last time out
Bacio heads this competitive eighteen-runner Class 1 sprint at York on good-to-soft ground rated narrowly ahead of Night Raider, with Rumstar and Starlust also possessing the ability to make life difficult in what looks a genuinely open affair. Night Raider and Rumstar both bring strong recent form to the table and cannot be dismissed lightly, while Starlust adds further depth to the dangers in a race where the draw and ground conditions could prove pivotal across such a wide field. Bacio's rating advantage, though modest, reflects a genuine edge in class, and on a going description that should suit a horse of his quality, there is enough to side with him, albeit without great conviction. The selection is Bacio.

Winless in his last five starts and returning after 66 days off, Ain't Nobody has experience of today's distance and going but his recent form makes for grim reading; stall six and 141 lb are the neutral backdrop to what must be a sharper effort.

American Affair won last time out and has experience of today's trip and going, but his patchy recent record — unplaced twice in his last five starts — and a rating four pounds below official suggest he faces a stiff task from stall four carrying 141 lb.

Cover Up won last time out and has experience of today's distance and going, but a 34-day absence and a stiff 141 lb to carry from stall 15 are both factors to weigh against him, leaving him a competitive if not straightforward proposition here.

Winless in his last five starts, Jm Jungle does at least bring distance and going experience to the table and a third two starts back hints at residual ability, though he carries 141 lb from stall 16 and ranks 12th of 18 on our assessment.

Night Raider brings winning form into this, scoring in two of his last five starts, and has experience of today's trip and conditions; at 141 lb from stall 2, the weight burden may be the key question mark.

Ranked 14 of 18 on our figures, Partisan Hero makes little appeal off 141 lb from stall 17, and a seventh last time out does nothing to reverse that view, though he has placed twice in recent starts and has run over today's trip and going before.

Redorange has won twice in his last five starts, including a win last time out, but our figures rank him thirteenth of eighteen in this field, and 141 lb from stall 18 makes him hard to fancy at this level despite his recent winning form over today's trip.

Rumstar arrives here in good heart following a win two starts back and a runner-up effort last time out, and he has experience of both today's trip and conditions. The chief concern is that his 141 lb burden may test him against lighter-weighted rivals.

Starlust has run over today's trip and going, carries 141 lb from draw 10, and our rating of 115 marks him out as a live threat in a wide-open field — the risk is that he has been winless in his last five starts.

Bacio arrives on the back of three successive wins and four victories in his last five starts, making him impossible to ignore at the top of the weights on 139 lb; he has run over today's trip before, and a 63-day break is the only question mark against an irresistible recent record.

Winless in her last five starts, Asfoora at least returns on a workable 21-day break having run over today's trip and going before, though carrying 138 lb from stall 3 and ranked tenth of eighteen on ratings, she faces a stiff task off the pace.

Azure Angel has been out of the placings in five of her last six starts, including an unplaced effort last time, and our figures rank her near the foot of the field; she has run over today's trip and returns on a reasonable 21-day break, but it is hard to make a case at these weights.

Ranked bottom of the field on our figures, Heavenly Heather arrives 41 days between runs, winless in her last six starts, and unplaced on her most recent outing, with a second three starts back the brightest recent spark; experience over today's trip and a fourth-placed finish four starts back offer slim comfort at best.

Rayevka won two starts back but was only second last time out, and a 66-day absence adds a fitness query; she has run over today's trip and carries 138 lb from stall 12, with our rating of 113 suggesting she holds solid claims if straight forward.
