Tip for this race
All today's tips ›Pit Boss is the one we want to side with in this tightly knit Newcastle seven-furlong sprint, where a progressive profile gives him the edge over a group of rivals who are separated by only a handful of pounds. He sits at 64 on our figures, just 5 lb behind the top-rated Wish This on 69, and that is a gap an improving type can close in a Class 6 contest. Wish This, Starliner (68) and Ey Up He's A Star (67) are the main dangers, as all three are rated narrowly ahead of him, though none brings the upward trajectory that Pit Boss does. It is a competitive heat and our confidence is low, but Pit Boss is the selection.

Fresh from a win last time out just 14 days ago, Cavallo Pazzo has run over today's trip and going, but that victory followed a run of eighth, sixth, seventh and ninth finishes. Carrying 140 lb from draw 3, he sits fourth of ten on our rating, so confirming the form is the question.

Starliner won three starts back and was twice second before that, and he's fresh from a 10-day break, with experience of today's trip and going, while our rating of 68 ranks him second of ten. The risk is two eighths in his last two outings, and he carries 140 lb from stall nine.

Ey Up He's A Star arrives in solid form, second last time out after a fourth two starts back and a win three starts back, and he has run over today's trip and going. Fresh enough after 18 days, he's a clear threat, though 139 lb is the main risk.

The Cookstown Cafu won three starts back but has been unplaced last time out and a seventh two starts ago since, so the form has cooled. He has run over today's trip and going, and our rating of 65 sits above his official 61, though 136 lb after 34 days off is a stiff ask.

Supreme Lillia is winless in her last four, with an eighth last time out following a fifth and a sixth, so she is hard to fancy. She has run over today's trip and going, and a third four starts back is the best of it, but 133 lb from draw 7 is a big ask on our figures, which rank her ninth of ten.

Pit Boss arrives fit after just ten days off, a third last time out, and has run over today's trip and on this going before. Carrying 132 lb from stall 2, he has been patchy since a win six starts back, but that latest effort is the one we're banking on.

Victory Sound was third last time out, and a winner three starts back, but he finished fifth in between, and ranking eighth of ten on our figures makes him hard to fancy. He has run over today's trip and going, and 28 days since his last run is no concern.
