Tip for this race
All today's tips ›Yaaser is our selection for this Newcastle Class 6 over a mile, and he is preferred to the top-rated Kelpie Grey because his profile is progressive and the clock backs up his form. At 60 he sits only six pounds behind that rival, a gap that a improving horse can bridge in a wide-open 14-runner contest. Kelpie Grey is the obvious danger on 66, while Haltonwood on 62 and Book of Life, level with Yaaser on 60, also need respecting. This is a competitive contest and our confidence is low, but Yaaser's upward trend makes him the one to side with.

Ana Emaraaty returns after 246 days off, having finished a ninth last time out, though he did win five starts back and has run over today's trip and going. A 133 lb burden, a stable at 0/21 and a draw of 12 temper things, with our rating of 58 ranking him ninth of 14.

Daring Leader has finished fourth in each of his last two outings, but those came after a seventh and an eighth, and his only win was five starts back, so he is hard to fancy. He has run over today's trip and going, and a 35-day break is no concern, though our rating has him twelfth of 14.

Cloch Nua is yet to win in his last six starts, with four sixths in that run, though a third last time out and a third four starts back show he can reach the frame. He has run over today's trip and going and is fit after 20 days, but carrying 132 lb from stall six, he is hard to fancy at 11 of 14 on our ranking.

Kelpie Grey was placed in three of his last six, including a second three starts back, and has run over today's trip and going before; our rating has him top of the 14. The risk is a ninth last time out and a yard 0/21 over the last 14 days.

Book of Life is consistent, with a fourth last time out, another fourth two starts back and a second three starts back, and he's fresh from just 14 days off, having run over today's trip and going. Our rating of 60 sits above his official 54, but he's yet to win in his last six and carries 132 lb from draw 10.

Oxford Circus won last time out just six days ago, but that sits against a fifth, a fourth and a ninth in the runs before, and carrying 132 lb he looks a tall order, with our figures ranking him 14th of 14. In his favour: he has run over today's trip and going, and the yard is in form.

Yaaser is our pick on profile: he's back quickly after seven days, has run over today's trip and going, and posted a third two starts back. He's yet to win in his last six, and the yard is cold, but our rating of 60 sits well clear of his official 53.

Pallas Lord is winless in his last six and unplaced in his last three, though a quick seven-day turnaround and previous experience over today's trip and going keep him in the mix. Carrying 131 lb from stall five, he sits seventh of 14 on our ratings, so he looks more a midfield type than a threat.

Haltonwood has been in the frame-hunting mix, with a third three starts back and a fifth two runs ago, and he has run over today's trip and going before, while our rating of 62 ranks him second of 14. Without a win in his last six and unplaced last time, the main risk is that he carries 131 lb from stall 14.

Archangel Josepi bounced back with a second last time out, just six days ago, and has run over today's trip and going, though he is winless in his last six and a seventh three starts back shows his inconsistency. Our rating of 59 puts him fifth of 14, carrying 131 lb from draw 8.

The New Bay Pearl is consistent, with a third and a run of fourths in her last six, but she is yet to win and was fifth last time out and again two starts back. She has run over this trip and going before, and our rating of 59 sits sixth of 14, though 130 lb from draw 11 is no help.

Barleybrown arrives fairly fit after 20 days off, with a fourth last time out, another fourth two starts back and a second three starts back, and he has run over today's trip and going before. Yet to win in his last six, he's hard to fancy for more than a minor role from stall one off 130 lb.

Winless in her last five, Peaceful Spirit was unplaced last time out and has slipped from a fourth five starts back, though she's fresh enough after 24 days and has run over today's trip and going. Our rating of 58 puts her eighth of 14, and 130 lb from stall 13 leaves plenty to prove.
