Tip for this race
All today's tips ›Chinese Whispers heads our ratings on 109, a clear 10 lb better than Chiquita Milano on 99, and that gap gives him the edge in a Class 5 contest over two miles on good ground at Southwell. Chiquita Milano is the main danger, with Lord Forlife just behind on 97 and also firmly in the picture. Most of the remaining nine runners are unrated by us, so there is some uncertainty about the depth of the opposition. Chinese Whispers is the selection, though only at low confidence.

Backwaters is unraced, so he arrives with no form to assess and plenty of scope to improve. Carrying 156 lb on debut, he is entirely unexposed, and today's run should reveal far more about his ability.

Lord Forlife has run over today's going and shouldn't be underestimated off a fifth last time out, with our rating of 97 putting him third of 12 and 156 lb a hefty burden he'll need to carry well. The main risk is a 172-day absence, so fitness is a real question.
